I still don't know what I was looking for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
- Changes by David Bowie
A paraphrased heading from Socrates, and an intro with David Bowie lyrics - things have certainly switched up a little around here, haven’t they?
Why those lyrics? It wasn’t just a cheap segue into *changes* that are coming. But rather, it reflects quite nicely how I feel about finding my voice online. There’s so many different ways you can do it, so many ways not to do it. The one constant I always came back to was this little newsletter and how I wanted it to be something more than it was.
Why? Because I bloody love chatting to you.
I largely dislike most social media. Instagram is ok, but All The Words was a good way for me to keep in touch with you. And I just realised that it was from a different time.
I’ve changed so much in the past couple of years - and no doubt you have too - so I just felt it was time for All The Words to have a little glow up too.
As one of my gorgeous subscribers, there’s nothing you need to do. I just wanted to let you know that the next installment will be something a little shinier.
What’s not changed is my desire to have a chat with you, to get into the good stuff.
That’s why I’ve re-named my little corner of the internet Skip The Small Talk*. Because that’s exactly what I want to do with you.
Small talk is for chumps IMHO.
I look forward to chatting to you very soon, babes.
*Full credit (not that she’ll accept it) to my ever-lovely coach and friend Sophie Carefull for inspiring this rebrand - I’ll chat more about this soon too.
